Backstory

A half orc in search of his lineage. Kiris was raised by his mother, Sera, in a cursed and secluded place: the cold wilderness of Lazagog’s Forest. Growing up, he discovered that he has this untapped magic ability within him. Kiris tried to control it himself, but to no avail. He can cast basic spells, sure, but he knows that there is much, much more to this uncanny skill; even so for an orc.

And he was an orc, for a time. As he grew older, he began to notice features that resembled a human rather than an orc: smoother skin, lighter pigmentation, smaller set of tusks, and a preference for cooked food. But Kiris is not only a half-orc; he is a magic-wielding half-orc. He intuits that maybe that is the reason her mother and him lived away from orc tribes: to conceal her peculiar son.

All the time Kiris spent in the forest with his mother made him wonder about his father’s identity. His eagerness to know the truth gave him negative emotions; he even thought that his father hated him, and they were banished to the forest because of his mixed race. His secretive mother always dismissed his questions about his father. But it did nothing to sweep his emotions away. Someday, he will learn his father’s secrets.

Time went on, and Sera became severely ill. Kiris’ magic, while becoming more powerful, was not able to heal. And since they were miles from known orc healers, Sera eventually died a slow yet peaceful death. She died holding Kiris’ hand. On her other hand, however, was a box Kiris had never seen before. The box proved to be the starting point of the young orc’s adventure.

The box contained a curious emblem, 10 gold pieces, and a note from Sera. The letter warned him that knowing the truth of his father’s identity will just bring him harm. However, knowing that Kiris would just ignore her warning and would continue to find the truth anyway, she wrote him something that may help him: first, that his name is based on his father’s name; and second, that the emblem that is included in the box is his inheritance from his father.

The contents of the box left Kiris with more questions than answers, yet he felt closer to the truth. It was now up to him to begin his quest on knowing his lineage and identity, a journey that started from the deep wilds of Lazagog’s Forest to a comfortable tavern in Curkip.

Then, Spekid draws the sigil of the Northern Frost on Kiris’ forehead. He then doffs the Frostborn Armor.

“But my power is still tethered to this extraplanar domain. To unlock it, you must defeat the construct that still wields remnants of me and Zerrus Zagi’s power.”

• Session 38: Kiris wakes up with the Frostborn Armor attached to him. But it only has 1 frost charge… and it is weighing Kiris down---the armor does not attune to him.
• Session 41: Splix, Adeena, Adikia, Noah and Kiris finds an altar for Akenatun.
• Session 41: Splix offers 25 gp. Noah offers 2 gp. Kiris offers an Amulet of Undead. Adeena offers her magical earring. Adikia offers a chipped gold from the Aureate Rapier.
• Session 41: The Shadow Knight bestows Theobald a Shadow Sigil resembling that of Kiris’ sigil. The Knights of the Wayraven are revealed to inhabit the Plane of Shadows.

Kiris shows the Shadow Knight his sigil. “That sigil belongs to the Wayravens, masters from the Material Realm who holds dominion over the Plane of Shadows.”

• Session 44: Kiris warns the Mitarella and company about possible ambush using a sending stone Kirren gave to her.
• Session 44: Kiris casts Disguise Self to mimic the face of the unknown member of the Acquermann Clan.

• Session 46: Raveena Malandar exits the stage. Arc and Kiris follow her. They follow her into a deserted grass park with large-trunked trees. Raveena hides behind one, and the two follow her.
• Session 46: Arc and Kiris determine that the cloaked individual is Janna Furwish.
• Session 46: After the conversation, Janna leaves, prompting Arc and Kiris to action. The two manage to knock out and capture Raveena.
• Session 46: Kiris assumes Raveena Malandar’s identity. He goes back to the Drakon Amphitheater as Raveena and without speaking, announces her leave to the guards. Kiris then messages the Drakon party to meet him and Arc at a specific place within Drakon.
• Session 46: The Drakon party saw Arc and Kiris carrying Raveena who is bound and unconscious. Djorken is startled, but Kiris manages to convince him that this is the best course to take. Djorken reluctantly agrees, and shares his knowledge of a less-traveled route back to the Ironfleet Compound that would attract the least attention.
• Session 47: Kiris and Adikia inspects the airship. Kiris is in awe of the airship; Adikia sees casters experimenting on abjuration magic.
• Session 48: Kirren asks Arc where to find Kiris and Kayvan; Arc supplies their location.
• Session 48: Kiris prepares a breakfast of bacon and eggs, bread, and hot chocolate for two. He plans to talk to Kayvan.
• Session 48: On the way to Kayvan’s room, Kiris meets Kirren. Kirren invites Kiris, and later Kayvan, to a personal conversation.
• Session 48: Kirren explains to Kiris that the 9th of Zagi is a special date to her. She commemorates the anniversary of Kristofer’s disappearance on this day.
• Session 48: It appears to Kiris that Kirren has accepted their father’s absence. Kiris shares that he is still hopeful that their father is still alive; Kirren is grateful for Kiris’ optimism.
• Session 48: Kirren invites Kiris later for remembering their missing father. Kayvan is also invited to come.
• Session 48: The party, minus Kiris and Splix, rides on a boat. Their boat tugs a smaller boat containing digging tools and some empty barrels. The party, upon exiting the river’s mouth, follows the western coastline.
• Session 48: The party confronts a blacksand-based creature. Arc, and later the other members of the party, ascertains that the blacksand combusts explosively. The explosion was too strong that the sound it produced reaches Kiris.
• Session 48: Thoradin and Noah meets Kiris in the courtyard and explains to them what happened. Afterwards, Thoradin talks to Nos and admits that they failed in retrieving the blacksand.
• Session 49: Kiris decides to sleep inKayvan’s quarters with Kirren. Before Kiris rests, Thoradin asks Kiris to cast Vortex Warp on the Bloodstone Arcane Gem.
• Session 49: Back in Ironfleet Compound, Noah, Kiris and Thoradin wake up and find the other members of their party gone.
• Session 49: Noah, Kiris and Thoradin see movement on the floating Yvernus. They see a dragon fly out of it, and descend down into Ankyra.
• Session 49: Kirren decides to check on the situation. Thoradin, Noah and Kiris decide to stay to defend the airship.
• Session 50: Kiris wins the competition. The airship is formally named as the Bloated Dragon.
• Session 50: Thoradin sees an abnormal phenomenon: the seawater rising like a hill. The party checks and sees that the hill is actually the roof of a marble structure. Upon investigating, Kiris confirms that the magic must have been cast on the structure to hide it.
• Session 50: Each member of the party except Kiris spots a Darkened Blade underneath the sands.
• Session 50: The party solves the puzzle and finds the Darkened Crown. Kiris wears the Darkened crown.
• Session 50: Kiris enters the arena; other members of the party can now enter as well.
• Session 51: Thoradin and Kiris checks the two spell circles on the stone floor. Kiris sees that the sigils on the spell circles pertain to a certain conjuration spell.
• Session 52: Kiris casts Binding Ice to create a barrier from the seawater.
• Session 52: Adikia casts Polymorph on a thrilled Dorfir Embersense. She turns him into a T-rex. Kiris, Fiamil and Splix ride on the polymorphed professor. Adeena and Thoradin cast Find Steed. Arc and Noah walks.
• Session 53: Kiris talks to Kirren. Kirren is fatigued as she and the people in Ankyra are helping the Yvernus survivors.
• Session 53: Kariil Acquermann is supposed to be the son of Korvin Acquermann. Janna claims that Kariil Acquermann presented Laurie a sigil similar to what Kristofer Acquermann gave to Kiris.
• Session 53: Kiris and Adikia travel to Foenyx to procure some ivory strips.
• Session 53: Adikia and Kiris sign Geraldt’s ledger, claiming that their signatures would attract future customers.
• Session 54: As Kiris and Adikia are walking on the smog-covered bridge to Drakon, they see a hooded figure in front of them. The figure asks:

“Where’s your friend?”

• Session 54: Adikia and Kiris try to dissuade Kayriel from attacking, but they fail. A group of hired thugs obstructs the path behind them. Adikia and Kiris attack Kayriel.
• Session 54: Adikia dies as Kiris is too late to save her. Kiris casts Dimension Door to escape the encounter with the dead body of Adikia.
• Session 54: Kiris could not retrieve the Aureate Rapier. The Aureate Rapier is now lost.
• Session 55: Meanwhile Kiris, who is carrying Adikia’s body, shouts out to Theobald. Theobald and Kiris eventually meet up.
• Session 55: Kiris explains that Adikia is struck dead. The two decide to go to Foenyx. Theobald’s plan is to go to the Chapel of Amlin and consult Drenn Halyx. Theobald asks Kiris to obtain a diamond worth 500 gp.
• Session 55: Kiris heads back to Geraldt’s store. All stores are closed, so Kiris knocks on one of the houses close to it. A rotund man shows on the upper floor window. After hearing Kiris’ pleading, the man and Geraldt shows himself to Kiris. Geraldt leads Kiris to his store.
• Session 55: Kiris negotiates with Geraldt; he gives the shopkeeper 500 gp and his magic citrine stone in exchange for the diamond rings. After the deal, Kiris heads back to the Chapel of Amlin.
• Session 55: Kiris arrives, and he and Theobald consider their options. They decide that Theobald must cast the Raise Dead spell on Adikia.
• Session 55: Kiris gives the diamond rings to Theobald. As Theobald is about to cast the spell, the Matunda’s Mace glows; Theobald put it near the body of Adikia.

• Session 55: The Dusk Talons hand Adeena an emblem similar to what Kiris received from his father. They pay respects to Kayriel’s body.
• Session 55: Relieved of guilt, Kiris hugs Adikia. The three discuss their next action. They agree to accompany Adikia to retrieve a piece of Nokia.
• Session 55: As they exit the Chapel of Amlin, a shadow attacks them. Kiris banishes it and the three escape to the direction of Chapel of Aisef.
• Session 55: Through his crow, Kiris senses the shadow dissipate as dawn approaches.
• Session 56: Adikia, Kiris, and Theobald discuss what to do next. Theobald decides to go to Chapel of Aisef to consult Father Ignatius. Adikia and Kiris go to the bridge where Adikia died to retrieve a piece of Nokia.
• Session 56: Adikia and Kiris see a 200-strong army crossing the bridge into Chtapodhi. The two wade into the marching army, but fails to find a fragment of Nokia. The two bump into a halfling soldier, who is irked by the incident.
• Session 56: Adikia and Kiris return to Ironfleet Compound to rest.
• Session 56: Adeena tells Adikia that Kayriel is already dead. After Adikia Adeena she walks out. The commotion wakes other members of the party. Noah tries to comfort Adikia. Kiris, Thoradin, and Splix try to follow Adeena.
• Session 56: Kiris arrives at the chapel and sees Kayvan seating on a pew. He sees the remains of Kayriel. He approaches Kayvan, but sees him already asleep. Kiris helps Kayvan to lay down. Kiris sees the Acquermann emblem and Kayriel’s locket.
• Session 56: Kiris and Thoradin meet just outside the chapel. They inform the other about what happened in their respective adventures.
• Session 56: Splix enters the chapel and sees the remains of Kayriel. He then catches up and listens to Kiris and Thoradin.
• Session 56: Kiris asks Thoradin and Splix to watch Adikia because an entity might attack her.
• Session 56: Kiris bumps into a halfling gladiator. The halfling taunts Kiris into a fight.
• Session 56: Thoradin and Flavius attempts to defuse the situation. Flavius introduces Severino, the halfling who turns out to be the Wycroft Gladiators’ champion. Flavius storms out of the cafeteria and provokes a fight; Kiris escapes and goes to the chapel.
• Session 56: Kiris enters the chapel and talks to Kayvan and company.
• Session 56: Mitarella talks to Kiris. She asks them if they can consider the Wycroft Gladiators as potential allies.
• Session 56: Mitarella tells Kiris that they are prepared to mount a counter-attack against The Cult of Miledu. She asks him if the party is ready to lead it. Kiris tells them that Adikia is not well. He asks for their help in resolving Adikia’s condition.
• Session 57: Kiris talks to Kayvan and promises revenge. Kayvan acknowledges Kiris.
• Session 57: Kiris exits the chapel, but he meets Theobald and the party going to the chapel. Kiris escorts the party inside the chapel. Adikia stays outside, and Thoradin accompanies her.
• Session 57: Kiris interrogates Arc, and Arc explains that he became possessed.
• Session 58: Kiris asks Theobald to teach him how to pray. Theobald guides Kiris, and the latter feels comfort from the activity.
• Session 58: Kiris, Thoradin and Splix notices that Arc has gone missing. Thoradin asks a guard to report to him once they see Arc.
• Session 58: Kiris asks Splix what he is doing with the Emerald of Protection. Splix theorizes that the Emerald of Protection Gem and the Ymerald Staff must have come from the same source.
• Session 58: Adikia casts Legend Lore on Kiris’s Acquermann sigil. Adikia sees the sigil being passed down through the Acquermann lineage. The last image she sees is the furthest from present time, where a sun-like entity hands the sigil. She hears a voice:

“He who bears the sigil of Acquermann must travel the darkened path to serve the light.”

• Session 59: Theobald, Thoradin, Adeena, Noah, Kiris and Adikia assault the hideout. Theobald casts Silence and Kiris banishes one of the guards. Noah, Thoradin, Adeena and Adikia finish the other two guards.
• Session 59: Thoradin and Theobald escort Adikia out of the prison. Kiris continues the interrogation.
• Session 59: Kiris learns that Vanayra is a spy for The Cult of Miledu. Vanayra, like Kayriel, is spying on Sumber’s political elite.
• Session 59: Kiris asks about Kariil. Vanayra mentions that he is the son of Korvin Acquermann, and is the inheritor of Acquermann Clan’s legacy. Kiris claims that he is the rightful heir to the Acquermann Clan’s legacy.
• Session 59: Kiris also learns the dispute between members of The Cult of Miledu. Vanayra tells Kiris that it is but a distraction.
• Session 59: Kiris bluffs Vanayra, telling her that the party knows the location of The Cult of Miledu, their end goal, and how to stop them. Vanayra is surprised, but she maintains that the party is just too late to stop the cult. Kiris exits the cell and talks with the party.
• Session 60: Kiris notices that Kirren is exhausted. He tells her to rest. Kirren worries about relying on the party.
• Session 60: Adikia walks away from the party. Kiris follows Adikia, and successfully persuades her to help the party find Auriel.
• Session 60: Kiris stops by Geraldt’s store and trades back his gold for the citrine gemstone. Geraldt persuades Kiris to inscribe the gem on a ring. Geraldt tries to sell the three diamonds worth 300 gp each to Kiris. Kiris asks Geraldt to wait.
• Session 60: Kiris exits the shop and goes to Doe Nutt Lapidary Services, a shop that cuts and inscribes gemstones to metal jewelry. He talks to Doe Nutt, and asks for the citrine gem to be set on a ring. Kiris receives a Ring of Lightning Resistance and pays 100 gp for the service.
• Session 60: Kiris, Adikia, Thoradin and Theobald enter Geraldt’s store store. They buy the three diamonds for 700 gp and a piece of the Aureate Rapier.
• Session 60: Kiris casts Hold Person on Auriel, making him paralyzed for the whole fight. Other members of the party assault the Horned Devil.
• Session 61: Theobald, Thoradin, Adikia, Kiris, and Noah occupy the first room.
