Korvin’s Gambit
Clearing Family Matters
- Korvin talks to the party. He asks them to help him defeat Elvin. Korvin tells the party that he is their only way to get to Elvin.
- Korvin asks for the sigils that would take them to Elvin’s location.
- Kiris asks Korvin what he will do with Kristofer. Korvin replies that he will do anything to stop the Knights of the Wayraven even if it means killing his own brother. Korvin adds that the Wayravens’ absence is due to him sieging Kristofer’s domain.
- Kiris mentions that Kariil, Korvin’s son, is dead. Korvin reacts surprised for a moment, but immediately turns stoic.
“What he did, he thought that it was the right thing to do. I have no problems with that.”
- Korvin asks the party about their plan to get out of here. The party does not share any information; Korvin warns them that travel between planes is no trivial matter. Korvin looks at the party’s wizard, Splix, and condescendingly asks him if he knows the way out of the Labyrinthus.
- Korvin approaches a shallow recess on the wall and sits on it. Korvin tells the party that he will stay there and wait until the party wants his help.
- Adeena approaches Kiris and tells him that she will respect his decision to take with Korvin whatever it may be.
Kiris and Adikia talk to Korvin
- Kiris asks Korvin if he plans to kill Kristofer. Korvin reiterates that he does not need to kill Kristofer, but if that is needed to stop Akenatun’s legacy, then he would not hesitate.
- Adikia enters the conversation and asks if he would need to kill the Acquermann Clan in order to kill the Wayravens and their Lordknight. Korvin replies:
“Make no mistake, being a Lordknight is not inherited through blood. So if no one takes the mantle, then there would be no killing.”
Kirren’s Worries
- Thoradin and Noah, while talking about Korvin, spot a restless Kirren looking at Kiris and Korvin talking.
- Thoradin sees Kirren as guilty and worried about her failure to defend the Arcanus Labyrinthus. Thoradin tries to comfort her. Kirren asks Thoradin and Noah about their plan to get out.
Splix’s Doubts
- Fiamil talks to Splix about who just appeared. Splix tells her that it was Kristofer’s lost brother, Korvin.
- Fiamil worries about what the future holds. Splix comforts Fiamil.
- Kirren approaches Splix and ask him details about the plan to get out of the Labyrinthus.
- Splix tells Kirren that the scholars know more about the details. Splix and Kirren decide to talk to the scholars.
- Splix talk to the scholars about the teleportation spell to get out of the Labyrinthus. As Professor Aufel and Professor Embersense converse, it becomes evident that there was miscommunication between the two: they thought that the other knows the specific spell that could teleport them between planes.
- The professors save face by explaining that they thought that they would go back to the Material Plane. Then, a simple teleport spell, which both the professors knew, would suffice to teleport them into Elvin’s location.
- Splix gathers the party to divulge the professors’ lapse. Arc opts to guard Korvin.
Kirren and Kiris
- Kiris pulls Kirren away from the party for a quick talk.
- Kiris shares that he does not want Korvin’s help. Kirren sees that Kiris is burdened about something. Kiris shares that he sees himself killing Korvin, their uncle.
- Kirren tells Kiris that she is willing to share Kiris’s burden. If it comes to it, Kirren is willing to be the one to kill Korvin.
