Flaws
Lost Exit
- Theobald shares that the Hall of Akenatun is slowly manifesting a magical barrier originating from a divine source.
- The party takes the time to pray to their respective deities.
- Kiris receives a sending message from Kirren:
“Many orcs here. How long do you need? Michaela is wounded, can you take her and Leneia in? We are inside the circle.”
- Kiris replies:
“We are spent. Need back-up to fight enemies. Kristofer under siege. Shadow Knight compromised and attacked us. Bring Leneia and Michaela in.”
- Kiris urges Splix to retrieve both Leneia and Michaela. Splix detects Kirren, Leneia and Michaela’s presence inside the Arcanus Labyrinthus’s circle. Splix talks to Kirren through the statue, but the communication is delayed by 10 seconds. Splix shares that they need twelve more hours (1.2 hours in the Material Plane) to complete Theobald’s hallow spell; Kirren is surprised. Splix detects distortion in Kirren’s voice.
- Kirren tells Splix to take Leneia and Michaela. Kirren opts to defend the Arcanus Labyrinthus from enemies.
- After 10 minutes, an exhausted Leneia and a wounded Michaela appear near a statue. Leneia appears to be looking for help, while Michaela is immediately healed by Adeena.
- The party discuss whether to help or rescue Kirren. They decide to rescue Kirren. Splix successfully persuades Kirren and he channels the Arcanus Labyrinthus. After a tense ten minutes, Kirren teleports into the Hall of Akenatun.
- Kirren apologizes to the party. She could not defend the Arcanus Labyrinthus, the party’s way out, and so she thinks that she might have endangered the party. Kiris, Leneia and Michaela console Kirren.
- Splix loses his attunement with the Arcanus Labyrinthus.
Leneia’s Revenge
- The scholars ask the party about what transpired. Fiamil tells Splix about her fear; Splix comforts her, and promises her and the scholars that his duty will be to protect them.
- Kiris notices Leneia’s face showing fear. She draws a dagger and walks into the chamber holding Roldan and Elix. Kiris persuades Leneia to stand down.
- Leneia asks the party why they did not kill Roldan. Leneia feels betrayed by the party, and she justifies killing Roldan. Leneia appears confuse; then, with sudden clarity, Leneia accuses the party that they have been tricked by Roldan.
- Leneia walks towards Roldan but Adeena stops her. Leneia assures Adeena and the party that she will not harm Roldan.
- Leneia roughs up Roldan, then checks his binds. Adeena spots Leneia removing something from Roldan’s finger: a quicksilver ring with a green gemstone.
- Adeena asks Roldan where he get the ring from; Roldan answers that he received it from Elvin.
- Splix and Adikia analyze the ring and trace its origin back to Sumber. They realize that the ring descended from Sumber’s Eladrins.
- Leneia pleads to the party to kill Roldan, but the party pushes back on the idea. The party keep Leneia away from Roldan.
- Professor Aufel casts identify on the ring, and reveals it to possess powerful enchantment magic. Professor Aufel returns the ring to Adeena, and Adeena gives the Ring of Ela’s Gemcharm to Adikia. Adikia attunes to the Ring of Ela’s Gemcharm.
- The party takes a short rest, while Adikia finishes her long rest.
- Theobald informs the party that he only needs six more hours to finish casting the hallow spell.
A Questionable Trespasser
- Splix notices an individual approaching the Hall of Akenatun. The party ready themselves.
- The intruder’s shadowy trappings dissipate as he enters the Hall of Akenatun. The party realize that the intruder is Korvin Acquermann, the long-lost brother of Kayriel and Kristofer.
“I think it is time to reveal myself. I am Korvin Acquermann. I heard that you are searching for me, Kirren and Kiris…”
- Korvin Acquermann talks to the party. Kiris asks Korvin whether he knows who is sieging Kristofer. Korvin produces a sly smile; he answers that it was him who is assaulting Kristofer’s domain.
- Kiris reacts and casts hold person on Korvin.
- Korvin Acquermann admits that he ordered the Shadow Knight to negotiate with the party. He tells the party that Roldan and Elix might provide answers where Elvin is.
- The party asks Korvin about his allegiance to The Cult of Miledu. Korvin shares that he used Elvin and The Cult of Miledu to further his own goal. Korvin appeared to help Elvin in his bid to free Miledu, as he thought that the plan was impossible. Elvin’s string of successes worries Korvin, and now Korvin appeals to the party to join forces and defeat Elvin and The Cult of Miledu for good.
- The party asks Korvin about his goals. Korvin promises to depose the gods and free the people of the world from their hold.
- Kiris and Kirren ask Korvin about their lineage. Korvin tells them that the Acquermann Clan was the leader of the first humans who waged war against the gods during the Age of Humans, making the Acquermann Clan as the ‘most flawed clan.’ After being defeated, Akenatun forgives the Acquermann Clan and appoints them to protect his legacy. Korvin claims that this magnanimous act of mercy is just a show---an attempt by the gods to control people and retain power. This makes the gods flawed, in Korvin’s point of view.
