Consulting Father Ignatius

Theobald goes to the Chapel of Aisef to consult Father Ignatius. Theobald sees Father Ignatius preparing for a mass.
Father Ignatius asks Theobald to lead the mass. Theobald delivers a sermon.
Theobald asks Father Ignatius about Adikia’s condition. Father Ignatius warns Theobald that casting necromancy spells will have repercussions.
After seeing Theobald tired, Father Ignatius appeals to him to take a rest. Theobald obliges, and takes a long rest.
Theobald wakes up at noon; Father Ignatius asks him to take his lunch as thanks for leading the mass earlier. Theobald politely declines; Father Ignatius packs the lunch and gives it to Theobald.
Theobald walks back to Chtapodhi. He observes the district livelier, owing to the fact that the gladiators he drank with yesterday are here.
Theobald enters the Ironfleet Compound and sees the Wycroft Gladiators camp in the compound’s courtyard. He sees the cafeteria brimming with commotion. He checks it, and sees the gladiators flocking Thoradin. Theobald asks a gladiator about Thoradin, and the gladiator replies that Thoradin defeated Severino, their champion.

Thoradin calls Theobald; Thoradin entertains the gladiator that Theobald brought with him. Thoradin disperses the gladiators by buying them a barrel of ale.
Theobald learns from Thoradin that Kayriel is dead. He decides to pay his respects. Theobald asks the other members of the party to follow him and convene in the chapel. Adikia initially declines, but is persuaded to come by Theobald.

Kiris talks to Kayvan and promises revenge. Kayvan acknowledges Kiris.
Kiris exits the chapel, but he meets Theobald and the party going to the chapel. Kiris escorts the party inside the chapel. Adikia stays outside, and Thoradin accompanies her.

Arc sees Kayriel’s body laid on the altar. He is confused; Arc asks how Kayriel died. Theobald tells him that Adeena killed him.
Arc investigates and sees the wound on Kayriel’s chest. He is sure that Adeena’s Evershift is the cause of the wound.
Arc recalls a memory; first he remembers the moment he saw Kayriel in Kayvan’s room. Then, a distant memory presents itself to Arc: he sees a younger version of himself running in an urban setting. He does not know whether he is chasing something, or is being chased.
Arc brandishes the Twilight Dagger and attempts to strike Kayriel. Theobald stops Arc in time. He sits on the nearby pew.
A voice calls to Arc, commanding him to slash Kayriel with the Twilight Dagger. Kayriel refuses.
Kiris interrogates Arc, and Arc explains that he became possessed.
The serving acolyte enters the room and announces that Kayriel’s body is ready to be doused with the Fire of Akenatun in one hour.
During this time, the voice commanding Arc dies down. After a while, he checks his dagger’s sheath. The Twilight Dagger is now replaced with a normal dagger.

The body of Kayriel is laid on a funeral pyre just outside the chapel. The acolyte produces a fire and blesses it. Kayvan asks for the acolyte to let him do the rite. The acolyte follows, and Kayvan places the torch on the funeral pyre.
As Kayriel’s body burns, Adeena and Arc see two shadows pass by them. Adeena feels her pocket, and draws the Twilight Dagger. Arc sees that Adeena is now wielding the Twilight Dagger. The others seem to not notice them.
After the ceremony, Theobald call on the party to talk together.

The party members talk among themselves. Adeena explains the reason why she killed Kayriel to the party.
Adeena shows the Twilight Dagger to the party and asks Arc and the party what to do with it. Theobald casts Greater Restoration on Adeena in order to unlink the dagger to her.
The Twilight Dagger falls to the ground; it spins, rattles, then flies to Arc’s direction. Arc catches it.
Splix convinces the party to retrieve the artifact in Asteri.

The party travels to Asteri. They are met by three royal guards guarding the breached wall.
Arc bribes the three guards. They enter, and see the ruined Asteri District in its entirety.
Splix casts a specialized Detect Magic spell. The party follows Splix.
As Splix nears a rubble, an Emerald Golem attacks the party. The party confronts the golem.
During the encounter, two Greater Shadows attack them. Theobald manages to turn the shadow entities.
Splix learns that the artifact they are looking for is inside the golem. The party defeats the Emerald Golem. Splix collects the Emerald of Protection Gem.

The party is greeted by Remus, Mitarella, and Gandour. They are reading a letter.
Remus confronts Adikia:

“When will you tell me that you’ve lost the royal rapier? I gave you my trust.”

Adikia explains that it was not her intention---it was inevitable because she died in combat. Remus forgives Adikia, but hopes that Adikia retrieve it.
Gandour gives the party the letter. Adeena and the party reads the letter.

To Remus,

We have your royal rapier. Give Adeena to us and we’ll return it.
