Veiled Eyes and Splitting Heads
Another Conundrum
- Arc pulls the dagger that is plunged into Elix’s back. He realizes that the dagger is from Adeena.
- Thoradin rushes to Elix and revives him. Elix becomes stable, but unconscious.
- The party discuss what to do with Roldan and Elix. The scholars investigate the teleportation circle. Splix and Noah note that the effects of the telepathic bond spell just ended.
- Thoradin gives the Scepter of Akenatun to Splix. Splix notices similar patterns between the Scepter of Akenatun and the Labyrinthus. He deduces that the patterns on the surface of the Arcanus Labyrinthus is patterned after the Scepter of Akenatun.
- Thoradin is adamant that he wants to talk to Elix. Roldan persuades the party to spare his life.
- The scholars learn that the sigil sequence on the teleportation circle points to a place deep underground.
- The party decides to enter the Labyrinthus and keep Roldan and Elix there. Roldan and Elix are bound by Thoradin.
- Kiris, Arc, Thoradin, Noah, Theobald, Splix, Roldan, Elix and the scholars decide to enter the Labyrinthus. Adeena and Adikia stay outside to guard the Arcanus Labyrinthus.
Inside Labyrinthus
- The party enter the Hall of Akenatun. The Scepter of Akenatun glows brightly. The party remembers that the Hall of Akenatun is where the Scepter of Akenatun was retrieved.
- Near the pedestal where the Scepter of Akenatun is placed is a blank slate. When Splix approaches it, the light from the Scepter of Akenatun shows hidden inscription on the blank slate. The inscription is written in primordial; Professor Embersense translates it.
- The inscription reveals the following:
To protect the artifact, Zagi and Spekid housed the Scepter of Akenatun inside the Hall of Akenatun. Through the divine power of the Scepter of Akenatun, the Hall of Akenatun binds the great evil that is Miledu.
- A section of the blank slate is reserved for a set of instructions for a cleric of Matunda or Akenatun. The instruction includes an inscribed hallow spell; casting it should restore the binding of Miledu. During this time, Theobald says, that he cannot break casting the hallow spell; the party should defend him at all costs.
- The party discuss their options, and concludes that putting the Scepter of Akenatun back is their best course of action. Theobald casts the hallow spell, and Kiris exits the Labyrinthus to inform Adeena and Adikia, and to use the Acquermann sending stone to inform Kirren.
- Theobald puts the Scepter of Akenatun back at its pedestal and casts the hallow spell; Splix realizes that this event sets off the recurring vision he has. Splix immediately informs Kiris, Adeena and Adikia through a statue within the Hall of Akenatun.
Message to Kirren
“New plan, inside Labyrinthus, binding Miledu using Scepter Akenatun, enemies could interfere, send help if possible, teleportation circle below Temple of Sealed Path, right now.”
- After receiving Splix’s warning, Adeena, Adikia and Kiris enter the Arcanus Labyrinthus.
A Quick Long Rest
- The party decide to rest while Adikia elects to guard Theobald. The scholars, Elix and Roldan rest in an adjacent room.
Seeing Ahead
- Arc, Noah, Splix, Kiris, Thoradin and Adeena have a collective vision of them fighting a five-headed creature. The vision also shows their mythic items gaining more power. The vision ends with a blast of fire.
- The party wake up, and Adeena notices a teleportation circle appearing at the other end of the hall. A five-headed creature with violet-black scales and red eyes emerge from the teleportation circle.
- The party defeats the Shadow Hydra and successfully defends Theobald.
