Description
Kayriel is a Kippian’s spymaster in Sumber. He is instructed to survey the continent’s political landscape.
In Sumber
While in Sumber, Kayriel Acquermann became a member of the Order of Yekora. He is known to other members as “Candor.” He rose within the organization, eventually becoming the Frederick Oberon’s right-hand man.
Kayriel employs the Dusk Talons, a third-party organization, to do his biddings.
Relationships
Kayriel is the brother of Kristofer Acquermann and Korvin Acquermann, and the father of Kayvan Acquermann.

- Session 55: Adeena and Thoradin exit the Arena of the Dueling Swords with Kayriel’s body on a steed. Three Dusk Talons glide down from the nearby buildings to meet them. The Dusk Talons talk to Adeena.
“We’ve paid our debts. May we not cross paths again”
- Session 55: The Dusk Talons hand Adeena an emblem similar to what Kiris received from his father. They pay respects to Kayriel’s body.
- Session 56: Adeena lays Kayriel to rest inside the Ironfleet Compound’s chapel.
- Session 56: Kayvan arrives at the chapel and sees the remains of his dead father. Adeena assuages the shaken Kayvan. She gives Kayvan Kayriel’s emblem and locket.
- Session 56: Adeena promises to Kayvan that she will make Kayriel’s death worth it.
- Session 56: Adikia confronts Adeena; she accuses the paladin that her and Nokia’s death was the result of Adeena’s failure in resolving the situation concerning Kayriel.
- Session 56: Adeena tells Adikia that Kayriel is already dead. After Adikia Adeena she walks out. The commotion wakes other members of the party. Noah tries to comfort Adikia. Kiris, Thoradin, and Splix try to follow Adeena.
- Session 56: Kiris arrives at the chapel and sees Kayvan seating on a pew. He sees the remains of Kayriel. He approaches Kayvan, but sees him already asleep. Kiris helps Kayvan to lay down. Kiris sees the Acquermann emblem and Kayriel’s locket.
- Session 56: Splix enters the chapel and sees the remains of Kayriel. He then catches up and listens to Kiris and Thoradin.

“Thoradin, please make it worth it.”

- Session 33: Korvin and Kayriel are revealed to be members of The Cult of Miledu. Korvin is part of the eight cult members in Bulkip, while Kayriel is shown to be the figure that Arc met.
- Session 35: Kayvan admits that he detected the presence of his father, Kayriel Acquermann, last night.
- Session 35: Mitarella reveals that Kayriel Acquermann is a spy the kingdom sent to Sumber.
- Session 35: Kirren: “What if Kayriel is not actually the individual Arc saw yesterday?”
- Session 35: Mitarella: “I can confirm Kayriel’s presence in Sumber within a day.”
- Session 42: Mitarella shares that Kayriel Acquermann is not in Sumber. She has had no success communicating with Kayriel Acquermann
- Session 42: During the encounter, the party determines that the assailant is Kayriel Acquermann.
- Session 42: The party traps Kayriel inside the carriage.
- Session 43: Meanwhile, within the carriage, Kayriel’s body melts.
“You really think it would be that easy?”
- Session 43: Adikia rushes forwards and attempts to grab the man. Adikia fails; however, she figures out that the man Adeena is surrendering to is Kayriel, or at least resembles its face.
- Session 43: The party decides to confront Kayriel.
- Session 43: Kayriel is defeated; however, it turns out that it is not the real body of Kayriel either. The body melts again, as the illusion bids another warning.

- Session 44: Mitarella shares Kayriel’s mission in Sumber.
- Session 44: Kayriel’s task is to spy on the ruling factions of Sumber.
- Session 44: The reasoning behind Kayriel’s assignment was due to reports of Sumber’s elite gearing for war.
- Session 44: Kayriel infiltrated the Order of Yekora and became Frederick’s right-hand man. His cover name is Candor. Adeena attests to this fact.
- Session 44: Kayriel was assigned for 25 years. Two years ago Kayriel broke contact with Mitarella.
- Session 44: Mitarella, Kayvan and Kirren knows nothing about Kayriel’s ability to magically create a clone of himself.
- Session 44: Kirren backs up Kayvan, saying that Kayriel, even when afar, was trying to be her father figure.
- Session 44: The party is unsure about Kayriel’s affiliation: is he a spy for Kippian, a servant of Frederick, or a member of The Cult of Miledu?

- Session 45: Adeena talks to Kayvan. Kayvan tells Adeena that he is positive that the handwriting is his father’s, Kayriel.
- Session 45: Adeena could not find Kayriel. Hours go by and the party waits.
- Session 45: Adeena meets Kayriel. Kayriel persuades Adeena to trust him. Adeena detects that she is outnumbered; it is futile to resist Kayriel.
- Session 45: Kayriel hands Adeena a black leather bag to cover her head. He reasons that he needs to keep his hideout unknown. Two assassins hold and guide Adeena to his hideout.
- Session 45: Upon arriving at the underground hideout, Kayriel asks Adeena to doff her armor and entrust him her possessions. Adeena implores to keep Aulephi’s amulet; Kayriel obliges.
- Session 45: Kayriel leads Adeena to an adjacent room fitted with a dining table.
- Session 45: Kayriel asks Adeena what she knows about him; Adeena replies with what she knows: that Kayriel is a spy for Kippian who is working for Frederick. Adeena also implicates him as having ties with The Cult of Miledu.
- Session 45: Kayriel explains that he is still loyal to Kippian. However, he needs to complete his mission as a spy. This, he hopes, should explain for his actions.
- Session 45: According to Kayriel, Frederick assigned him to take Adeena back to Sumber. Kayriel, upon hearing Adeena’s story, is not inclined to follow the order.
- Session 45: Adeena asks if it is safe to tell all this with the Dusk Talon assassins hearing them. Kayriel replies that the Dusk Talons’ loyalty lies with him, and not the Order of Yekora.
- Session 45: Kayriel shares his plan: in order to preserve his cover as a Kippian spy and earn Adeena’s trust, Adeena must kill Kayriel the next time they meet.
- Session 45: Adeena is initially hesitant, but Kayriel convinces her to trust the plan. To ensure that it is him, Kayriel shows Adeena a locket with a picture of him, his wife, and Kayvan. He reveals that this is the thing he stole from his son’s quarters in Ankyra’s Old Castle Compound.
- Session 45: Regarding The Cult of Miledu, Kayriel is as clueless as the party. He mentions that he has knowledge of the Theater Incident since a follower from the Order of Yekora told it to him.
- Session 45: Kayriel’s clones are the result of a magic cast by a Sumber mage on him. He does not know how many clones are left, though he thinks that there are about five. Adeena shares that they have killed two of them.
- Session 45: Two years ago, Kayriel broke contact with Kippian to validate rumors of an individual using the Acquermann’s name. He thought that it would lead him to his missing brothers, Korvin or Kristofer. The thread prompted him to go back to Kippian to search for clues. Kayriel managed to do it as Frederick’s right-hand man.
- Session 45: Kayriel gained information that the mysterious Acquermann has an Eladrin companion.
- Session 49: Adikia sees a figure jumping down from the wall. The figure turns out to be Kayriel; he is trying to enter the portal. He fires three bolts into the portal.
- Session 49: Sensing an opening, Adikia uses her Fey Step ability to support Kayriel. The two attempt to enter the diminishing portal.
- Session 49: Kayriel and Adikia fail to enter the portal. Kayriel is caught by the portal and breaks down into water.
- Session 53: Adeena and Thoradin go to the Arena of the Dueling Swords. Adeena tells Thoradin to prepare, as she is about to face Kayriel.
- Session 53: The figure in front of Adeena speaks. It is Kayriel.
“I hope you’ve come to die.”
- Session 54: The smoke clears, and the figure is revealed to be Kayriel.
- Session 54: Adikia and Kiris try to dissuade Kayriel from attacking, but they fail. A group of hired thugs obstructs the path behind them. Adikia and Kiris attack Kayriel.
- Session 54: Arc confronts the man following him. It turns out to be Kayriel. Kayriel asks,
“Where is she?”
- Session 54: Arc attacks Kayriel. After a brief but deadly scuffle, Kayriel comes out with a significant advantage. Arc manages to escape to the Ironfleet Compound.
- Session 54: Adeena attacks Kayriel. Adeena lands several blows to Kayriel. Kayriel manages to hit back.
“At least you let me hit you.”
- Session 54: Adeena punches Kayriel, leaving him unconscious. Adeena surveys the arena and sees eight individuals, who she is sure to be Followers of Yekora, emerge from the shadows. They point their crossbows at Adeena and Kayriel.
- Session 54: At the last moment, Adeena retrieves the Evershift and drives it into Kayriel’s chest. Adeena takes four hits from the incoming crossbow bolts. A scream from a woman reverberates within the arena.
“He’s dead!”
- Session 54: Thoradin attempts to revive Kayriel by casting a Revivify spell. Kayriel opens his eyes and looks at Adeena:
“Make my sacrifice worth it.”
- Session 54: Kayriel dies.
